Drug maker Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd on Thursday promoted Alok Sonig as executive vice-president and head of the North America generic business. Sonig, who has been heading the India generics business, replaces Umang Vohra, who has stepped down, the company said in a statement. Sonig played significant role in expanding the domestic business of Dr. Reddy’s and the acquisition of a select portfolio of Belgium-based UCB SA products in India for Rs.800 crore. India contributes about Rs.1,787 crore, or 15%, of Dr.Reddy’s generic sales.
