One would never find an organization that literally ‘forces’ its employees to leave the office at 5:30 pm. Well, RFCL Ltd. does so that its employees can spend time with their families on Family Days! RFCL Ltd. is a comparatively small operation but one where employees speak big of their company’s participatory methods of building business directions, recognition for individual efforts and cross-functional learning opportunities. Celebrating the achievements of the children of employees, sending appreciation letters to their families, distributing gifts and tokens of appreciation to pantry boys, drivers, etc, on RFCL Day are instances of what makes this company a great workplace.

#3. Eli Lilly & Company (India) Pvt. Ltd.

One unique practice followed at Eli Lilly & Company is that it encourages its employees to raise issues and concerns. VOE (Voice of employee) is a wonderful tool that the company uses to collect and understand the issues and concerns of the employees throughout the organization. It actively involves employees from across departments and levels by providing them a platform for voicing their opinions, and recommending and implementing initiatives. A questionnaire soliciting their views and opinions on various policies of the company and current initiatives being implemented is administered through an external consultant. After the results have been collated and analyzed, the same is shared with all the employees. A ‘VOE Task Force’ comprising of 14-15 individuals nominated by employees themselves across all levels and departments is set up to take these results and further prioritize five themes for consideration.
