In this digitalised world, time and attention are getting scarce. In order to deal with this, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella emphasised how Microsoft envisions three interlocking ambitions which are going to be the mission of Microsoft in the coming years. The official mission statement of Microsoft is to "empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more." He was speaking at the Microsoft’s #FutureUnleash event in Mumbai on Thursday.

The three ambitions include - to empower productivity of individuals and business processes, to enable cloud to companies and governments, and to reinvent computing.

Nadella says there is going to be more computing in our lives in the next 10 years. “Computing will be everywhere, what will be key is our mobility of our human experience through all this computing.” Nadella talks about the power of teams, and collaboration and leveraging organizational data to turn it into intelligence. Nadella showed an umbrella of products and apps that Microsoft has built and designed to enhance productivity by helping  individuals manage the scarcity of time. “We are not stopping at building a phone that can run apps. We are keen on creating a full PC experience from the phone. Windows Continuum is a great feature in a market like India,” says Nadella.

The Second ambition is about building an intelligent cloud. “It helps you take advantage of one of your core assets, and that is data. We are now seeing the owner of the cloud manifest across the entire landscape of India,” he said. Nadella supported this with examples of Virtual Agri Services and LV Prasad Eye institute. “States likes Andhra Pradesh are analysing where dropout rates are high and predicting what may happen. They are focusing scarce resources in places where they get better outcomes,” he added.

The last big ambition is more personal computing. “We want to innovate on form and function. Holo Lens in particular is such a new medium,” Nadella said. He went on to say how app developers are an intrinsic part of the ambition process, and how StaffPad has changed the way music is composed. “A R Rahman is a big user of StaffPad,” he said.

He signed off by saying that, “People of India have a tremendous opportunity ahead and we want to play a small part so that they can achieve their potential.”
