He was heading academics at HCL talent care and was the founder director at Cloudcherry, a Singapore based SAAS Product Company. He also held the position of Executive Director (Emeritus) at Great Lakes and continued to teach there.

He was also widely recognized for his contributions to the field of management education in the country over his career that spanned 26 years, as a part of SP Jain Institute of Management and Research and Great Lakes Institute of Management. He was honoured with the "Outstanding B School Director" award in 2010 by Association of Indian Management Scholars (AIMS) and was awarded the “Life time achievement award” by Ratan Tata on behalf of Great Lakes Institute of Management. Some of his areas of expertise include economics of strategy, management control systems and strategic cost management.

In a note, Dr. Bala states “That spirit of enterprise combined with his dynamite personality made him an excellent leader and I can confidently state that anyone whose life he has touched will remember him very fondly”. We, at People Matters are deeply saddened by the loss of a great partner and friend. Our prayers go out to his near and dear.
