At HCL Technologies, the emphasis on executive coaching stems from the belief that leadership and activity based developments are an integral part of the continuous knowledge and learning process in the arena of competitive business. Further, in order to sustain an accelerated pace of growth, leaders who possess real leadership qualities, rather than mere managerial skills, are required. Thereby the executive programs are carefully tailored to meet the twin demands of personal and professional growth.

Coaching is provided to high potential managers to become ‘Next Generation Leaders’. Executive programs are undertaken both for the benefit of employees who embark upon higher profiles within the organization (subsequent to promotions etc) and those employees who enter into new domains. The ‘Leadership Development and Transition Management Program’ is taken care of by program officers who work with external coaches, third party expert consultants and internal top leaders. This ensures neutral coaching with no inbreeding of ideas and gives a fair and objective dimension to the mandate of executive coaching.

Leadership development is the most important part of executive coaching whereby new leaders and successors of top positions are developed by nurturing internal talent. The ‘Top Gun Next Generation Leadership Academy’ has been formed with a vision to create world-class leaders and has an existing pool of empowered leaders who take a turnkey role and help other program participants to leverage their strengths in all aspects of life - from the personal to the professional; from the community to the organization as a whole.

The ‘Top Gun Program’ is an ongoing program where participants undergo a journey to evolve as future leaders. They introspect on their present competencies and future potential on the basis of various psychometric instruments and in accordance with their personal aspirations. After consulting with their managers and the Top Gun program team, they prepare their Individual Development Plans (IDPS) which are then presented and reviewd by the internal board of top leaders over regular periods.

HCL also has situational executive coaching for transition management of leaders to help them move into their new role and also for those leaders who start their journey at HCL Technologies. This coaching is provided through a structured program known as ‘STEM’ (Structured Transition & Enablement Mechanism) which is a leadership transition and assimilation help. It is applicable to new leaders who join the company as well as leaders who transit from one leadership position to another.
