A useful B-school ranking would be one that brings clarity of understanding about its academic rigour, student diversity and input process

 

In the current context, rankings do not play a major role in our selection of campuses, while we do look at them before getting into our evaluation. This is true for us, because when hiring for the TAS program, we tend to look at some other qualitative aspects also. The relationship of students with the faculty and the role faculty plays in giving personal time to develop students is important, because in our assessment a typical ‘Guru Shisya’ orientation can be very useful in molding attitudes of young minds. This is not captured by any of the existing rankings.

While evaluating B-Schools today, the focus should be on academic rigor, opportunity for overall growth of students for their overall growth, quality of intake, non-academic curriculum that plays a role in the development of students, faculty reputation, the role that the faculty plays in overall development of students, and diversity in student profile.

Therefore, a useful B-school ranking would be one that brings clarity of understanding about a B-school’s academic rigor, student diversity, input process and quality, faculty-student relationship as well as non-academic curriculum.
