Why you should nominate for “Are you in the list” awards

For the past four years, “Are you in the list” awards have been recognizing the top young HR leaders. In association with DDI, this first of its kind initiative by People Matters aims at rewarding the future HR leaders selected through a rigorous and intense qualifying process. It’s not the destination that matters, it’s all about the journey, and the selection process surely embodies that. The climb up to the dais is a six stage process including multiple tests, interview and a face-off with a panel.

In the last 4 years, 80 emerging leaders across industries and locations have successfully covered this journey and have been felicitated with these esteemed awards. To understand the value and impact of the awards, we conducted an analysis on the winners. Aligning to the vision of the awards, 76% of the winners have grown in their roles. Another interesting data point that CHROs of organizations may consider is that 70% of the winners are still in the same organization, indicating that these awards may result in increased loyalty of the top performers. While the HR leaders are still cracking the code of engaging and retaining their top performers, recognizing their talent publically though such awards seems to strike a chord. Upon a further deep-dive, from a winners’ perspective, 3 out of 4 winners who are in the same organization have grown in their roles, revealing that winning these awards open up avenues for growth in your organization.

While some people may believe that winners may use their awards to switch quickly for better opportunities, our data reveals that out of the 30% winners who changed their jobs only a marginal 2.5% of winners changed jobs within 6 months of receiving the award.

Adding to the interesting findings of this research,  in this start-up era, where according to ET, India features in the list of five largest hosts to start-ups in the world, a small proportion (5%) of RUL winners have also started their own ventures – another arena of displaying their leadership capabilities.

To summarize this study, our data reveals that nominating more and recognizing your HR talent through “Are you in the list?” award is critical to not only increase the chances of colleagues from your organizations winning these, but also ensuring a long term growth and employee retention. So, what are you waiting for, just click here to nominate/ apply – online application closes on 26th August, 2016.
