L&D League Week Day 4 Recap: Webinar

As part of the L&D week, People Matters organized a webinar session in association with Aegis Pvt. Limited on the topic “Diversity for Improving Business Metrics”. The webinar focused on how diversity improves the business of an organisation and what all measures are being taken to keep the employees motivated.

SM Gupta, Global Chief People Officer, Aegis said that the company follows its own diversity model called “The Aegis Hexagonal Diversity Model Framework”, the categories under the hexagonal model are: persons with disability, socially and economically disadvantaged, mature age people, indigenous people, gender and culturally & linguistically diverse people. The organization credits the skills, talent, employee potential and the diverse employee background for the success of the company.

While noting the importance of diversity inclusion, the discussion highlighted the role of the leadership in driving the strategic agenda in the organisation. It is also important to drive change through company policies geared at employee satisfaction. In response to the question on how the company balances employee ratings between people of different abilities, Mr. Gupta said that there is a uniform appraisal system. While the incentives are same for everyone, there are special initiatives that are catered to differently abled employees. An organization where diverse employee needs are valued and catered to improves productivity and guarantees success ahead for the organization. Aegis aimed to create a work atmosphere where every employee would be provided with equal career opportunities, and progressive development.
