Differentiator: Corporate connect helps frame its pedagogy

International Management Institute, Delhi, is one of the most preferred B-Schools in India. With a vision to be a truly global school, it seeks to create and nurture globally minded, industry ready, socially conscientious, ethical and value adding managers through its internationally accredited programmes and its innovative transformation process. The school has many programmes ranging from two-year programmes for young graduates to specialized programmes for working managers and subject specific management development programmes for middle and senior managers and Leadership Development Programmes for senior and top management including those at the Board Level of organizations.

There are myriad ways in which the institute differentiates itself. It admits the students to its postgraduate programmes only on the basis of merit. Scores obtained in CAT and GMAT is taken into account and equal emphasis is on the possession of right attributes and attitudes as assessed through psychometric tests and the ability to comprehend, conceptualize and articulate their insights and knowledge. From the day the student gets admitted, every effort is made to ready the students for life in the corporate sector. Induction programme, corporate immersion programme, summer internship programme, teaching through cases and problem solving exercise by a faculty that has a blend of academic researchers and industry practitioners, partnership with corporates for co- creation and co-delivery of courses, live projects, talks by business thought leaders and functional heads and skill building workshops constitute the portfolio of mechanisms through which the institute tries to chisel out industry ready professionals.

According to Dr. Pritam Singh, IMI Director General, “a holistic school is one that understands and executes the three facets of teaching and learning with an appropriate balance. The three pillars are creation, dissemination and application of knowledge…just as a medical college can produce good doctors only when it has an attached hospital, a business school can produce competent managers only when it is intensely and deeply connected with the industry”. In IMI, corporate connectedness is a credo that inspires its selection of faculty, its transformation of the students in terms of course structure and pedagogy, its shaping of the working managers through subject specific MDPs and grooming of industry decision makers through LDPs and Board level workshops.
