Spread over 193 acres, the sixth school under the Indian Institute of Management family, IIM Indore has been a pioneer in the field of management education since its inception in 1996. Believing that a strong theoretical foundation is the basis of good corporate practice, IIM Indore has a dominant presence in India and overseas.

With experiential learning, IT orientation and social sensitivity as some of the unique features of IIM Indore’s academic programmes, it offers its students a wide variety of courses to choose from. Some are Post Graduate Programme in Management, (a two-year full-time residential programme equivalent to an MBA), Executive Post-Graduate Programme in Management (a one-year full-time residential programme equivalent to an MBA) and a two year alternate weekend programme called the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives. Apart from the regular doctoral programme, they also have a unique Fellow Programme in Management for industry participants.

There are several initiatives undertaken by the institute that sets it apart from its contemporaries. To ensure a focus on learning rather than teaching, 17 faculty of IIM Indore have been sent to the Harvard Business School (HBS), Boston, to attend its Participant Centered Learning Programme. This enables them to add extra value to classes and impart world class knowledge to the students.

Prof. Rishikesha Krishnan said the institute’s vision is to be recognized as one of the top three management institutes in the country and said his immediate challenge is to consolidate its growth initiatives. “Faculty recruitment is a major priority as this will help faculty to achieve a better mix of teaching and research and we also plan to strengthen the placement office and build close links to major corporate recruiters,” he said.

IIM Indore has also joined hands with the Government of Madhya Pradesh and launched a programme called the Rural Immersion Program. This stresses the importance of social sensitivity and brings students closer to rural India. Under this program, the post graduate students get an opportunity to spend a week in rural Madhya Pradesh. This will help them be effective managers in a context where inclusive growth is a national priority. IIM Indore PGP has other unique features such as a Himalayan Outbound Programme and a large number of industry-specific courses. The students are also given an opportunity to interact with industry stalwarts. This provides them with real time exposure. Students visit various company premises for a half or full day workshop and observe their day to day functioning.

In 2011, IIM Indore started a programme called The Integrated Programme in Management (IPM). This is a five year undergraduate Management Programme and incidentally the only under graduate programme offered by any IIM. The student population at the institute is thus a happy mix of MBA aspirants as well as undergraduates. This adds to the flavour of the campus making it vibrant and energetic.

The Indian Institute of management, Indore is also the first IIM to offer its regular PGP outside India. It offers a two year regular post graduate program at Dubai broadly similar to the PGP at IIM Indore. The participants are taught by faculty from IIM Indore and/or eminent individuals drawn by IIM Indore from Industry or professionals across the globe.

The Indore campus offers a state of the art recreational center. This includes gymnasium, aerobics center, squash and tennis court. There is an Olympic size swimming pool and facilities like volleyball, badminton, basketball and football which are available to the students.

With a strong IT backbone, the latest in teaching aids and rich learning resources, IIM Indore is emerging as one of the most popular management institutions in India.
