Leaders must recognise what motivates their employees: NimbusPost’s Yash Jain

Yash Jain founded NimbusPost back in 2018. His passion is building products that can simplify businesses. With expertise in Marketing, Tech, and Automation, he is the driving force behind all Tech and Business operations at NimbusPost. In an exclusive interaction with People Matters, he shares his take on how can organisations hire better by investing in employee-centric policies. Here are some excerpts.

What are your thoughts on the power shift between employers and employees?

While the epidemic has been a big factor in the power shift between companies and employees in the last two to three years, it has always been critical for businesses to consider their employees' best interests to maintain a long and fruitful relationship. At NimbusPost, we believe HR tasks become much smoother with the ideal work culture and an employee-first approach. In addition, hiring the best-fitting talents has become easier than before as more people choose to work for an employee-friendly company, so the power shift has set us in a good direction.

With the plans for your business expansion in Indonesia, how do you plan to adapt your hiring practices to balance the power shift between employers and potential employees?

NimbusPost is proactively hiring across many divisions to fast-track its operations in the SEA area. We’re planning to hire 1000+ tech and logistics specialists to take eCommerce merchants’ logistics journey to the next level. We use ethical hiring practices to welcome people into our positive working culture as a people-first firm. We have an open-door policy to facilitate dialogue among supervisors and managers when discussing our job or people management strategy. Employees can approach their HODs or management with questions, concerns, or difficulties without hesitation.

The Covid-19 incident revealed what employees expect from their employers. Employees nowadays demand more than just a 9-to-5 work; they want their employers to care about their total well-being and happiness by providing commuting amenities, free meals, outdoor fun activities, boot camps, and so on.

We understand what keeps the employees going towards achieving more. Every month, awards are announced to recognise our top performers' outstanding efforts and motivate them with incentives and privileges. We recognise that employees want a healthy work-life balance and that being appreciated motivates them. Therefore, we offer flexible work hours and roster shifts in specific departments to relieve stress for our valued employees without compromising our business or client experience.

What is the role of leadership in enabling a people-centric work culture?

Organisations, on the whole, desire to generate high sales and market value, which they can do by investing in employee-friendly policies. Therefore, leaders must create a productive, healthy, and stable workplace to support employees.

What digital innovations are you looking forward to?

Several tech integrations are required to run an internet business smoothly. Technology allows firms to access, organise, and handle vast amounts of data. It also helps companies to become more efficient and productive. By integrating innovative tech solutions with clients' platforms, one can offer easy supply chain management for their organisations. Today’s supply chain platform allows business process automation and organisational flexibility through Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Automation, and other technologies.

What advice would you like to share on driving employee engagement?

I firmly believe that everyone's viewpoint counts and that a firm can only develop exponentially by maximising the potential of every person. And to fulfil someone's true potential, it's critical to foster a positive work atmosphere that results in high production.
