The year 2012 will see a similar recessionary phase as seen in 2009 and therefore, companies will proactively look at optimizing their available talent by increasing training investments.

Cross-Industry hiring will undoubtedly be the new trend. The changing market dynamics will force companies to hire for innovation and this in turn will see increased hiring from cross-industry talent pools that will in turn bring diverse skills and expertise.

It is quite evident that organizations will go into smaller cities to hire talent as attrition is lowest in this pool. Companies like Genpact are already starting operations in smaller cities like Dehradun to take advantage of the available talent there.
