Imagination: The language of the Human Resource

On the day two of People Matters TechHR18 Conference, the inventor of mind mapping and brain expert, Tony Buzan shed some light on 'what is a human resource?' and talked about the art of mind mapping.
Imagination: The language of the Human Resource

“Our brain doesn’t think linearly,” declared Tony Buzan, as he shared the formula of unleashing the ultimate power of the brain.

And the power of the brain can be unleashed by using the art of mind mapping. Through the architecture of thinking one can truly understand themselves and transform their own lives.

What is Mind Map?

A Mind Map is a graphic technique which provides the key to unlock the potential of the brain by drawing curved and colorful lines.

Curved because as mentioned at the beginning, the brain doesn’t think linearly and colorful because they are exciting for the brain.

Tony says, “Color adds extra vibrancy and life to our Mind Map and adds tremendous energy to creative thinking.”

He exclaims, “Through images, colors, association and imagination each and every person can communicate with each other. One common language that everyone speaks is imagination.

Imagination is our native language. And that is the human resource.”

Using the power of both parts of the brain, the left and the right, and by synergizing the cortical skills – word, image, number, logic, rhythm, color and spatial awareness – in a single manner, the ultimate power of the brain can be discovered and experienced.

The interesting aspect of the technique is that Mind Map can be applied to every aspect of life where improved learning and clearer thinking will enhance human performance, even corporate learning and development.

Originated in the late 1960s by Tony Buzan, Mind Maps are now used by many people around the world – from the very young to the very old. In fact, leaders like  Vicente Fox Quesada, former President of Mexico, Mahathir Bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia and many leaders of China have successfully used and applied Mind Maps.

Here are seven steps as given by Tony on how to make a Mind Map:

In the end, as Tony said, “Our brain is radiant and the map of our thoughts can give us the freedom to roam the infinite expanses of our brain.”
