“What new technologies do is to create new opportunities to enable performance in ways never thought before.”  - Anonymous

The esteemed speakers at Tech HR forum including the likes of David Mallon from Deloitte, Kedar Vashi from HCCB, Nishant Kolgaonkar from SOTC Travel services, Rajesh Padmanabhan from Vedanta Group, Tarun Katyal from Sistema Shyam Teleservices deliberated on the role of technology in creating high performing organizations.

Technology is enabling organizations to spend less time on the mundane tasks and to focus on high priority areas. Some of the areas where it is enabling efficiency and effectiveness include:

Creating a great employee experience: The age of providing multiple HR platforms for different HR services is getting over now. Integrated HR solutions to provide a great employee experience is the new trend.

Enabling employee performance: The world is going mobile these days. So why should HR lag behind in enabling employee experience using mobile? Mobile apps are being used to enable easy access of data at the right time and at any place for field workforce. This is helping sales workforce to track their progress on sales plan almost instantly and to plan for future actions accordingly. GPS tracking of the field force is generating better insights on sales workforce productivity.

Managing employee performance: A lot has been discussed about this already. Technology is really changing how periodic goal setting and real time feedback is happening. This is changing the focus to quality conversations to fuel employee performance.

Managing Cultural Transformation: Technology is being used to create a customer centric culture. It is helping in better data management and gathering more insights on customer behaviors. It is also helping in building capabilities on scales unimagined before.

Ofcourse any kind of change needs to be accepted and adopted by the organizations, including leveraging technology as a value, creating a technology strategy wherein HR also tables its requirements.

Finally, a lot is happening in this space, however majority of organizations really need to embrace the change with open arms.
