L&D League Awards 2016: The Process

The finalists were selected after a 4-month long process. The top 3 in each category presented their achievements in the L&D League Annual Conference 2016.

The L&D League awards this time invited around 270 applications with more than 180 unique organizations applying for the five different categories. The finalists were selected after a 4 months long process. The top 3 in each category presented their achievements in the L&D League Annual Conference 2016. Finally 5 winners were chosen from the final 15. 

Schneider, Pepsico and Vedanta showcased the good work they did in Accelerated Leadership Development space. Amongst the many initiatives, these organizations have developed different interventions for different levels in the organization. They are also giving special focus to grooming women and retaining them in the workforce. The winner for this category, Vedanta, also assesses its employees on technical competencies.

Aegis, IDFC, Atul Ltd and Vedanta were selected for sharing their sound practices in cultural transformation. The winner IDFC shared how they inculcate values in their employees by sharing stories about their values. In addition to many other initiatives, they use modern technologies such as Yammer to enable a culture of conversation, appreciation, learning and performance.

In the L&D Reengineering category - SAB Miller, PepsiCo and Indigo showed the amazing work they have done. There were many interesting ideas such as involving business outcomes in IDPs, running CEO shadow programs, conducting study tours across organizations etc. SAB Miller was selected as the winner in this category. 

The next category was about innovative onboarding solution which organizations are providing. The winner Axis Bank showcased how its strong management trainee program has led to faster promotions of employees. The others selected in this category were IDFC Bank and ICICI Lombard.

Philips Lighting, Bajaj Allianz and Astra Zeneca presented their stories of “Redefining technology in learning”.  The winner Bajaj Allianz enables mobile based learning to facilitate learning on the go. They have gamified their learning to make it more engaging. 

The participants had to face the tough questions of the Jury Members. It was a very insightful event for the participants. They took away a lot of learnings to implement in their organizations.
