Kronos Live 2016: Manage with metrics

Manage, measure, utilize efficiently – these three buzzwords describe what Kronos’ workforce management software can provide for your organization. Every industry faces a similar set of challenges – how can they achieve competitive advantage and correct operational efficiency specially by managing their most valuable, and expensive, strategic asset – their workforce.

According to Kronos statistics and as pointed out by Neil J Solomon in his keynote speech “The increasing relevance of Workforce Management Platforms” at the 3rd Kronos Live 2016 held at Mumbai, workforce is set to grow to 48.7 million in 2019 from 45.9 million today. There will be an increasing number of mobile workforce, and by 2020 the average Indian will be 29 years of age compared with 37 in China and the US, 45 in Western Europe. About 65.3% population will be between 16-64 years of age. With external challenges intensifying competition, businesses in India need to catch up with the global competition as well as local competitions with respect to usage of high-end technologies, investment capacity, and best practices and processes. This was also corroborated by Aon team who presented at the session titled “Today’s workforce strengths and insights for Data driven employee engagement.” According to Aon’s stats presented by Radhika Gopalkrishnan and Ajit Nair, by 2020, India will have the world’s youngest and largest working population with one-third of the workforce under 30 years of age.

It has become essential for organizations to align their workforce management innovations with the changing nature of workforce. And here thriving organizations are leveraging Kronos integrated suite of applications designed to help them plan, schedule and analyse their workforce for optimum impact. At the event, Prasenjit Bhattacharya, CEO, Great Place to Work Institute, India said that data is re-defining how we make decisions such as in hiring and selecting the right candidates. Traditional HR which was characterised by ‘one-size-fits-all model, inflexible career path, metrics not important to business among others are slowly going away to a much more data-driven processes. “HR’s only business is to enable people to be business ready,” said Bhattacharya.
