GE’s South Asia Region CHRO joins Tata Motors

Ravindra Kumar GP, CHRO for South Asia Region, GE, has moved on from the organization after 17 longs years and has joined Tata Motors as President and CHRO, effective December 17, 2018. The news was confirmed with an internal mail that announced his appointment.

As per the mail sent by Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD of Tata Motors Worldwide, “In his role as CHRO, Kumar will be a member of the ExCom and would report to me. He will work closely with Gajendra Chandel for a smooth transition on a mutually agreed timeframe.”

Kumar, who is an alumnus of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, comes with a rich global experience of over 20 years. Kumar joined GE way back in 2001 as Organization and Staffing Manager – John F Welch Technology Center and in a span of 17 years, he moved up the ladder to reach the position of CHRO – South Asia Region. In his career span, Kumar has had the opportunity to work in country, regional and global roles; in businesses across different industries and organizations at different stages of their life cycle. These experiences have enabled him to develop into a creative and result oriented HR professional. His specialties include human resource management with particular strengths in organization effectiveness, change management and organization development.

Prior to joining GE, Kumar was associated with Asian Paints for more than 2 years and had moved on from the organization at the level of HR Manager. In addition to TISS, he is also an alumnus of Bangalore University and the University of Hyderabad.
