Times Internet elevates Puneet Gupt as COO

Times Internet has named Business Head, News, Puneet Gupt as the Chief Operating Officer, with immediate effect.

Puneet has been working with the firm for over ten years and since 2011, he has been leading Times Internet’s news business as the head. Under his leadership, the company has been able to reinforce the leading position of TOI, reach one of the top positions in languages and launched products like eTimes, GadgetsNow and NewsPoint to address emerging opportunities. 

With his leadership, he has also contributed the 6.5X growth of Times Internet’s News business and he has enabled the company to become one of the world’s leading premium digital publishers. 

Now, Puneet in his new role would be working with Gautam Sinha, CEO of Times Internet to drive their ambitious growth agenda. Puneet’s focus will now be on making Times Internet the go-to digital destination for every Indian’s information, entertainment and transaction needs. 

Sharing his excitement for his new role, Puneet said, “Times Internet is a company that dares you to think big, and empowers you to make your dreams a reality. I look forward to amplifying our growth by identifying and building category-defining digital products that become the benchmark in quality and value proposition for our customers.”

Gautam also praised Puneet and said, “He his audacious, customer-obsessed and has rich experience in starting, growing and scaling up digital businesses.”

Times Internet has been expanding its portfolio and has made several investments and partnerships in 2018. They partnered with Tencent to invest in Gaana, acquired and re-launched a video OTT platform MX Play and also launched gaming platforms like BaaziNow & CricPlay. Times Internet even made an investment with their dining out platform, Dineout and acquired restaurant management software firm Torqus last month. 

Now what new innovative layers will the digital products company, Times Internet add in the coming year and how Puneet will lead the team towards its next phase of growth is to watch out for.
