Wal-Mart hires new tech head

The world’s largest retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is expanding its technology centre in India where it has hired a former Oracle executive to head technology operations and plans to add at least 350-400 more jobs at a new facility in Bangalore–all part of a global push to strengthen its e-commerce business and compete against Amazon.com Inc. As part of the strategy, Wal-Mart Labs is also building a new technology platform that will power all its global e-commerce operations, a top technology executive at Wal-Mart’s e-commerce business said.
