Cadila Pharma names new COO of API business

Pharma industry veteran V.K. Singh has joined Ahmedabad-based Cadila Pharmaceuticals as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of its Chemical Strategic Business Unit, which mainly focuses on Active Pharma Ingredients (APIs) manufactured in India. Singh will be based out of Ahmedabad.

“Cadila Pharmaceuticals is one of the fastest-growing pharma companies in the country and is at an inflection point in its growth trajectory. I am excited about being part of this journey. I look forward to working closely with the team at Cadila Pharmaceuticals to chart out new growth opportunities,” Singh said on his association with Cadila Pharmaceuticals.

V.K. as he is fondly known in the industry is a Chemical Engineer from IIT Kanpur, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. He comes with over 20 years of experience in the Pharma industry, and the last ten years in leading and transforming organizations.

Prior to Cadila, he was last associated as Chief Business Officer with Strides Pharma Science. Before that, he was associated with leading pharma companies such as Emcure Pharmaceuticals, RPG Life Sciences, Ethypharm India, and Ranbaxy in various roles.

V.K. performed a general management function leading mid-sized pharma companies over the last decade, and has a wide experience, spanning across formulations, drug delivery, APIs, business development, corporate strategy, and mergers and acquisitions. His strength is leading international business with a focus on regulated markets. It is this experience that Cadila Pharmaceuticals, one of the largest privately-held pharmaceutical companies in India, will be hoping to leverage in charting new growth opportunities.
