Mercedes Benz India ropes in new CEO

He will take over from Roland Folger and resume office on November 1, 2018. Folger will move over to a new role and hell look over the Thailand and Vietnam markets.
Mercedes Benz India ropes in new CEO

Luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz India has announced their new MD and CEO. According to the statement, Martin Schwenk will be the new India MD and CEO. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Mercedes Benz Beijing. 

He will take over from Roland Folger and resume office on November 1, 2018. Folger will move over to a new role and he’ll look over the Thailand and Vietnam markets. 

On his association with the Indian market, and how Roland Folger played a key role in the brand’s growth strategy, the company statement said, “In the last three years under the leadership of Roland Folger, Mercedes-Benz India has witnessed significant growth rates, achieving the highest market share in the luxury car segment.” 

Commenting on his stint with the company, Roland Folger said, "I am very satisfied about Mercedes-Benz India's strong leadership position in the market and our relentless efforts in creating a new benchmark in customer delight." 

Sharing about his new role, Martin Schwenk  said, "India's rich cultural diversity, the young population, the diverse customs, different languages and topography together with its importance as a future economic power house; makes it a compelling market to grow the business .”

Schwenk started his career with Daimler in 1992 and worked for thirteen years. He joined Mercedes Benz in 2006 and worked in various roles in  different geographies such as South Africa, Austria, USA, and China.
