United Breweries' head of marketing Samar Singh Sheikhawat quits

Sheikhawat was one of the six top officials of the company who steered the beer maker through a major transition when Dutch company Heineken took control.
United Breweries' head of marketing Samar Singh Sheikhawat quits

Samar Singh Sheikhawat, Chief Marketing Officer of United Breweries, the country’s largest beer maker, has resigned from the company citing personal reasons.

Sheikhawat told BusinessLine he is considering various offers and will take a decision soon. “I have spent 30 years in the corporate sector and am evaluating various options at present,” he said.

Sheikhawat was one of the six top officials of the company who steered the beer maker through a major transition when Dutch company Heineken took control. It now has a 44 percent stake in the company. Vijay Mallya’s eight promoter firms, which have been attached by the Enforcement Directorate, hold 16.15 percent.

Before joining UB nine years ago, Sheikhawat, an alumnus of SIBM, Pune was Vice-president, Marketing with Spencer’s. He had earlier also worked with PepsiCo and Dabur.
