P&G India commits $30 million for the promotion of diversity

Apparently, the initiative includes sourcing $30 million dollars in revenue through providing business opportunities to women entrepreneurs and organizing workshops to educate suppliers on the benefits of diversity and inclusion for the economy.
P&G India commits $30 million for the promotion of diversity

P&G India in a press release has announced that it has partnered with WeConnect to empower women entrepreneurs and that they would also train their suppliers on the importance of diversity and inclusion in the supply chain.

The initiative is part of P&G’s global commitment to promote greater gender diversity and is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations. According to the information given to People Matters, P&G through this initiative will source $30 million through this initiative over the next three years.

Al Rajwani, MD & CEO, P&G India Sub Continent said, “Investing in women entrepreneurs and women-owned businesses makes sense for the economy, the community and for us. Our initiative is in line with the Indian Government’s efforts to empower women economically. By committing a percentage of our spending to women-owned businesses, we’re not only doing the right thing for the company, but we’re also being socially responsible. The impact of our spending with women-owned businesses helps to stimulate economic growth in communities who are often overlooked, which in turn promotes job creation and further opportunities.”

P&G would also be organizing conferences across the country to address the issues which are faced by women entrepreneurs and also the solutions to tackle the same. There will also be a session on how women entrepreneurs should go their businesses in a sustained manner over time. Part of the effort would also be workshops organized specifically to educate the suppliers of the benefits an inclusive and diverse supply chain to the economy and the country as a whole.
