Food delivery network Uber Eats announced a comprehensive insurance programme for delivery partners in India. The program is launched in partnership with Tata AIG.  The objective of the program is to make delivering with Uber Eats a rewarding experience for delivery partners across the country.

 This program insures Uber Eats delivery partners for up to rupees five lacs against accidental death and permanent disability when they are on the road providing delivery services through the Uber Eats App. This policy also includes a cover of INR 2 lacs against medical hospitalization expenses and an outpatient cover of rupees 50000. 

The delivery partners are covered right from their first order on the App and it'll be offered for free of cost to delivery partners.

According to Deepak Reddy, Head of Central Operations at Uber Eats India, this is a significant milestone for the company and he is excited to be launching this initiative. The company wants to be the preferred choice for someone who is pursuing the opportunity of becoming a delivery partner with the food delivery company.  

He said, "We have an essential role to play in empowering people with access to quality economic opportunities. With added peace of mind at no additional cost, we want to ensure that delivering through Uber Eats is a rewarding experience for all delivery partners across the country.”

 Commenting on the collaboration, Parag Ved,  Executive Vice President & Head - Consumer Lines, Tata AIG, said, "Today’s new age business ecosystems provide an opportunity for us to develop innovative product constructs, that delivers value to the end consumer. We believe that this product will surely add to ‘building a rewarding experience’ ethos for Uber Eats and their delivery partners.”

The insurance coverage under this collaboration went live from September 10, 2018, onwards, across all Uber, Eats cities in India.
