The online hiring activity increased by nine percent year-on-year and a two percent rise in April 2019, according to TimesJobs RecruiteX.

Healthcare and/or biotechnology sector is leading the talent demand at 12 percent growth in April 2019 versus March 2019. In terms of month-on-month growth, petrochemicals/oil and gas and projects/infrastructure sectors recorded 11 percent and 9 percent growth.

“Historically, these sectors experience moderate to slow job growth rate but this time they are leading the demand,” said Sanjay Goyal, Business Head, TimesJobs and TechGig.

IT/Telecom, BFSI and Healthcare/Biotechnology emerged as the top hiring sectors. However, the traditionally high-volume sectors of IT and BFSI that had a high talent demand was flat.

Another insight from this report reveals that the demand for doctors and nurses was the highest. Engineers and logistics professionals came in second as the most sought after. Same time, last year, job roles in sales and business development, IT/Telecom and customer services/telecalling were the most in demand.

As far as the levels of experience are concerned, the online hiring activity index showed that those professionals with more than two decades of experience were the most in demand in April, followed by the bracket of 10-20 years of experience. This trend echoes the numbers from April 2018 as well.

When the study looked into location-wise demand for talent, most number of jobs were posted for Jaipur, followed by Lucknow and then Chandigarh. Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru also happened to be the top hubs among their counterpart metropolitan cities.
