Coal India to hire for 9,000 jobs: Report

As more than about 12,300 employees working in Coal India retire on an annual basis in the last three years, many positions are left vacant. Thus, in order to fill the vacancies, the mining sector is undertaking a recruitment drive in order to fill the 9,000 jobs that are on offer.

Out of the 9,000 vacancies about 4,000 will be hired by Coal India and the remaining 5,000 by the seven subsidiaries of Coal India. Out of those who will be hired by Coal India’s subsidiaries, about 2,300 will hired from those families whose land had been taken up to set up projects. The other 2,350 will be recruited in an effort to give employment to the family member of a staff member who died before retirement. Another 400 job roles will be the non-technical posts.

Coal India will leverage advertisements in order to hire for 900 job roles through interviews as well, especially for the junior levels. Another 400 will be recruited from campuses while about 100 will be experts in the medical field.

About 4,000 job roles are under the executive bracket. Such a massive recruitment drive had been pending for a few years as last year, Coal India was able to hire only 1,200 people.
