HCL Technologies has set up a dedicated business unit for Google Cloud with over 1,300 professionals, in order to focus on helping clients migrate their applications to Google’s cloud network. The team is expected to expand to more than 5,000 people in the next few months.

As per media report, this will be the largest dedicated team from an IT services provider for Google Cloud. HCL will set up three Google Cloud-specific labs, one each in Dallas, London and Noida. The IT major will work on pilots for clients and enable their shift to Google’s cloud platform. Google and HCL Technologies will jointly market the solutions to clients, with Google’s senior architects and development team supporting HCL to adopt its cloud platform.

C Vijayakumar, President and CEO, HCL Technologies stated, “HCL and Google have a deep and long-standing relationship, and this new business unit is a strategic step forward in our partnership. I am confident that the Google Cloud Business Unit will accelerate the execution of digital transformation of global organizations as well as incubate new IP and solutions that will redefine the market.”

Meanwhile, through this partnership Google will be able to help organizations deploy Google Cloud broadly and at scale, and move their most critical, data-intensive workloads to the platform. As per Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud, through this partnership, both the firms will tap customers in industries such as retail, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications, and the public sector in Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, and North America.

Given that the cloud is at the heart of innovation and digital transformation for enterprises, the partnership is expected to further the cause of digitalization in organizations and help them unlock new opportunities.
