US-based ecommerce giant, eBay laid off 100 employees based in technology centre in Bangalore. The fired employees were part of product and tech team in India. 

Though, the news of large scale lay off is not officially confirmed by eBay India but as per media reports, the spokesperson of the company said, “We have announced certain changes about our global product and technology team. Because of which, we have reduced the overall technology workforce in Bangalore and we are shifting work to other global centres. Further, eBay India’s  Bangalore based centre will now lay emphasis on product and development work.”

eBay India has not revealed actual number of employees impacted by the decision but as per media around 100 staff members are impacted. The Bangalore centre has around 300 employees in total.  

Reportedly, eBay had fired around 350 people in Bengaluru and Chennai development centers last year. The cut off then had impacted employees across eBay Marketplaces and PayPal business.
