The Year over year (Y-o-Y) analysis of hiring trend report by TimesJobs RecruiteX highlights an optimistic impetus in October 2018. Earlier in September, the businesses observed a decline in talent demand which has improved a lot in October with 30 percent growth.

The industries that showed positive sentiments in hiring include Automobiles and Infrastructure sectors (with eight percent growth each) which generated most jobs. Automobile and Infrastructure is followed by BFSI and IT/Telecom with six percent growth and thereby emerging as the second highest employment generators. Owing to the festive season in India, recruitment activities improved in the Retail sector. Additionally, to meet the increased customer orders, there was a significant rise in talent demand in Logistics and Supply Chain Management professionals with a 20 percent growth.

According to the report, the three most demand job roles for the month of October included Professionals from Medical, Sales/Business Development and Human Resources. It was also noted that demand for professionals in Quality and Process Control functions saw a boost of 20 percent in October 2018. Other roles and functions that exhibited demand were Logistics and Supply Chain Management professionals with a 16 percent demand growth and Marketing & Advertising profiles which saw a 14 percent rise in demand.

Ramathreya Krishnamurthi, Business Head, TimesJobs and TechGig said, “Looking at the hiring activity of the past three months, October 2018 has by far been the best so far. The ongoing festive season has seen a surge in talent demand especially for industries like Automobiles and Retail. Since e-commerce is witnessing a boom during this festival sale, there was an increase in the demand for Logistics and Supply Chain Management professionals. This is a certain confidence booster for the economy as well.’’

Among key locations, Ahmedabad displayed the highest talent demand of 8 percent in October. Bengaluru along with Lucknow, Pune, Indore, Chandigarh and Hyderabad recorded a 3 percent growth in talent demand each. Chennai, Mumbai and Vadodara ranked third on the chart. In terms of experienced professionals, candidates with experience between 10-20 years were in most demand.
