Ikea India poised to create 10,000 jobs in Maharashtra

IKEA is planning to enter Mumbai and is looking to create 10,000 jobs in Maharashtra with an aim to hire 50 percent women at all levels.

The Swedish home furnishing retailer is planning to start its operation in Mumbai in 2019 by offering a large format store, city centre smaller stores and e-commerce.

With a plan to support its operation in Maharashtra, IKEA India will create 10,000 jobs (5000 direct & 5000 indirect). The company is expecting to create opportunities across competencies like merchandising, store operations, supply chain and allied assembly services. The first big format store will be in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai and will employ 1000 direct co-workers and 1500 indirect co-workers for various services.  To support a positive workspace which is progressive and inspiring, IKEA has announced to employ 50 percent women at all the levels.
