Infosys on track to meet hiring target

Infosys Technologies is well on track to meet its target of hiring 45,000 persons this fiscal and will focus on local hiring. At the beginning of the current financial year, Infosys had announced plans to hire about 45,000 people. During the October-December 2011 period, country's second-largest software services exporter hired 9,655 employees. During the first quarter of the current fiscal, while the company and its subsidiaries hired 9,922 employees (gross), over 7,000 employees left the organization. The net addition stood at 2,740. In the second quarter, the IT giant saw gross addition of 15,352 employees, while net additions amounted to 8,262. For Infosys, the attrition rate has come down from 17.4 per cent in October-December period of 2010, to 15.4 per cent in the third quarter of the current fiscal year.
