The Karnataka government is set to launch a jobs portal and mobile application called ‘Employ’. As per a TOI report, the government has partnered with the UN Development Programme and Confederation of India Industry (CII) for this initiative.

Skill development secretary Amlan Aditya Biswas stated, “We are creating a no-holds-barred platform to bring together unemployed youth of the state and private sector firms to make job and talent hunting easier.”

He said the best part of these platforms is that both the services will be made available free of cost.  Unemployed youth can directly upload their details along with their CV and certificates without much effort, and private companies can find trained and certified candidates under government programmes.

The government plans to launch both the portal and app simultaneously on November 1, to coincide with Karnataka Rajyotsava, as per Biswas.

In addition, the portal and app will update users on self-employment schemes, scholarships and provide guidance to entrepreneurs. The app, for now, will be available only on Android. Meanwhile, the government also wants to transform conventional employment exchanges in districts and sync the recruitment process with market trends by launching skill development centres in major tier 2 and tier 3 cities.

As per the Union labor ministry survey, Karnataka stood second after Gujarat in the unemployment rate.
