A news taking rounds in media about TCS operations closure in Lucknow was recently denied by CEO Rajesh Gopinathan. As reported by moneycontrol, the top management stated that no layoffs would happen in the company. CEO Rajesh Gopinathan stressed that all talk of layoffs was “malicious rumour-mongering”, and that the company is consolidating its operations in Noida.

People Matters tried to reach out to TCS but they refused to comment on the development. 

As per the media reports, Tej Paul Bhatla, TCS vice –President, recently visited Lucknow and had directed the project managers to complete the projects by December or shift the centers to Indore and Noida.  Also, the managers have been told to convey the same to their respective teams. 

If the company does decides to move or shut its operations, the decision is likely going to impact jobs of more than 2,000 IT professionals working at the TCS Lucknow. Out of these 2000 workers, fifty percent of them are women and it’s going to be a big impact for them and their families based in Lucknow.

Gopinathan has played a key role in helping TCS becoming a USD 16.5 billion global company with over 371,000 employees. He has worked across different geographies and units before being appointed CFO in 2013.  Reported by People Matters, Rajesh Gopinathan was appointed as the CEO of TCS in January. He succeeded N Chandrasekaran. Prior to this, he was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Vice President for nearly four years since February 2013.
