Srinivasan Veeraraghavachary, COO at Cognizant is calling it quits. In this move, he joins a slew of senior executives of the company who have quit the company since Brian Humphries took over as CEO last April.

Srinivasan has spent over two decades at Cognizant, holding several roles including Corporate Security, Global IT, and sales and operations would remain in the organization till August.

In an email to employees, CEO Brian Humphries wrote, “Shortly after I joined Cognizant, Srini and I discussed his career aspirations. He expressed his interest in transitioning out of Cognizant to pursue his next challenge, yet committed to stay in his role and provide his support for the next year.”

Humphries has brought in former Unisys executive Lawrence Wieser as Chief Administrative Officer, who will also among other roles take over the sales operations led by Srinivasan.

Srinivasan’s exit comes almost within a fortnight of more senior exits this month. Among these exits are Jaideep Poondir, SVP in the banking and financial services vertical, Rajesh Balaji, SVP and global delivery head of enterprise application services practice, and Vinayambika Kidiyur, SVP and global delivery transformation head.

At least a dozen senior executives have left the company including Santosh Thomas, EVP, President of Global Growth Markets earlier this year and Gajen Kandiah, President of Digital Business and Digital Engineering and Sumithra Gomatam, President of Digital Operation among others, last year.

Meanwhile, the company indicated recently that there could be future cuts in the workforce, including in senior roles Cognizant had to defer joining of campus recruits to September quarter. Given the subdued demand environment, Cognizant will freeze most of its lateral hiring across all functions in India, with few exceptions in sales roles.
