Deepinder Goyal joins Unacademy Board of Directors

Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO, Zomato has joined the board of Directors of Unacademy, a leading online learning platform of India. Earlier in August, Deepinder invested in the company and participated in the company’s Series H fundraise. 

Commenting on the development, Gaurav Munjal, Co-Founder & CEO, Unacademy Group said, “Deepinder has been an advisor for several years and it was only a matter of time before that association transformed into a formal partnership. His experience with building and scaling a successful consumer technology company will help us tremendously as we build the country’s largest learning platform.”

Started as a YouTube channel by Gaurav Munjal in 2010, Unacademy is India’s largest learning platform with a growing network of 50,000+ registered Educators and over 62 million Learners. Recently, it raised  $440 million in a new financing round with Temasek leading the Series H round with participation from Mirae Asset and existing investors including SoftBank Vision Fund 2, General Atlantic, Tiger Global and Oyo’s Ritesh Agarwal. Deepinder had also participated in this round. 

“I am thrilled to join the Unacademy board. I think it’s one of the best product companies being made in India, and I am looking forward to learning from Gaurav and the team,” said Deepinder.
