Luminous Power Technologies has appointed Dr. Kannan Tinnium as the new Senior Vice President for Research and Development. Dr. Tinnium will be responsible for shaping the technology and product development for the Power Solutions Business at Luminous. Arvind Khanna, who was leading this profile, will take over the role of company CTO going forward and his key role would be to seek opportunities across startups and evaluate new technologies and platforms to bring about disruptive technological changes at Luminous.

In his last outfit, Dr. Tinnium was the Associate Director of Enzen Global Solutions where he oversaw research on new technology applications in future utility systems. Prior to that, he was at the helm of Power Research Development Consultants in India as the General Manager for Utility Power Systems Solutions.

A specialist in the power sector, Dr. Tinnium spent 17 years with GE Global Research in the US and India where he held crucial technology leadership positions in Electrical Technologies, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Energy Storage and Controls.  He also spent more than four years with Entergy Services, one of the largest electric utilities in the USA, where he was driving technical analysis of their transmission grid and identifying optimal solutions.
