Lupin has appointed Manju Deshbandhu Gupta as the new chairman of the enterprise. Manju Deshbandhu Gupta is the wife of the late Deshbandhu Gupta, the Founder of Lupin Ltd. Manju Gupta was one of the co-founders of the drug major Lupin and first investor in the company. She has been a member of the board for over 40 years.
Commenting on the appointment, Gupta shared with media saying, "I am honored with the confidence that the board has placed in me, and I look forward to working with the board to take Lupin to greater heights.” She further said, “I am also very pleased that Dr. Kamal Sharma will continue to guide the management team for another year. I look upon my role as helping to take Dr. Deshbandhu Gupta's legacy forward, and transitioning over the next biennium to Vinita and Nilesh."
Manju Gupta is the wife of the late Deshbandu Gupta who started the Rs 17,000 crore Lupin with borrowed capital of Rs 5,000. Gupta founded Lupin in 1968 and created a global pharmaceutical major with a presence in over 100 countries. He passed away in this June.
