Haryana government in collaboration with NASSCOM organized Digital Haryana Summit that was aimed at examining systems through which the state could be transformed into a digital hub for the country. Key policies regarding IT and ESDM, Entrepreneur and Startup, Cyber Security and Communication and Infrastructure Policy were launched during the summit.

Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched the cybersecurity policy by the state and said Haryana is the first in the country to implement such a policy. Prasad added India's flourishing digital economy is expected to offer job opportunities to about 50-70 lakh youth in the country by 2020. Earlier this week, Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan in a conference at the IoT India Congress 2017 said, Internet of Things (IoT), has potential to create 1-1.5 crore jobs.

According to a study, globally 83 percent expect to maintain or increase their headcount and upskill their employees in the next two years. Only 12 percent of employers plan to slash headcount as a result of digitization and automation. The survey also finds that in the short term, digitization would require skilling, but it won't hit the jobs too much globally.

The Summit also launched Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) which is a new field and has a scope to create employment opportunities for youths. The aim is to project Haryana as the ESDM Hub of India.
