India employment index rises 16 per cent as per monster survey

The Monster employment index, a monthly gauge of online job posting activity, reports 16 per cent rise in employment opportunities from February 2012. Out of the 27 industry sectors monitored by the Monster Employment Index 21 of them registered expansion in online recruitment activity between February’12 and February’13.

Out of the 27 industry sectors monitored by the Monster Employment Index 21 of them registered expansion in online recruitment activity between February’12 and February’13.

Shipping Marine sector with 59 per cent followed by Media & Entertainment sector with 41 per cent exhibited the highest annual growth among sectors.

Printing/Packaging sector, up by 39 per cent, showed positive growth in online recruitment activity whereas production and manufacturing, down by 10 per cent showed steepest annual decline.

Demand among occupations was up most for Arts/Creative professionals, followed by Customer Service. Chandigarh registered the strongest annual growth; while Kolkata and Chennai were the strongest annual gainers among major metro-markets.
