The Indian Express appoints new CTO

The Indian Express has appointed  Amardeep Vishwakarma as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He was formerly the CTO at Shine.com. With over 14 years of recruitment industry experience, Amardeep is planning to manage the overall product and technology roadmap for the company. He will report to the CEO, Sanjay Sindhwani. He will be responsible for all the online properties of Indian Express such as Loksatta, Indian Express, Financial Express, inuth, and others.

Amardeep comes to Indian Express after spending a major chunk of his career at online job portal Naukri.com, where he assumed various technology-centric roles over the course of his prolific career. At the organization, he single-handedly built several open-source projects along with the company’s flagship cloud-based recruitment software (RMS).

Sharing about his key focus areas for the company, he said, “My immediate key focus will be building content personalization which will include recommending content based on reader’s interest, enhancing user experience and increasing online readership with the help of digital technologies. The idea is to leverage data that already exists by using AI/ML.

When asked about his thought on joining Indian Express, he said, Indian Express is among the top news portal in India. This will altogether be a different domain for me, and working with IE is going to be very interesting, challenging, and full of learning for me.  We will be building new products along with my team and build a strategy around monetization of these products through innovation in product, content, and advertising solutions for our consumers and customers.”
