The trend to pursue science, tech, engineering, and math (STEM) courses is diminishing among students in India according to student loan data among financial institutions.  30 to 40 per cent of engineering seats in many institutions are unfilled across batches and the trend for new-age courses such as acoustics, music technology, golf coaching, motor sports engineering, and leisure management is picking up. Financial institutions across the country are witnessing a rising number of applications for student loans in new age courses.
