Construction sector may see shortage of staff in the next 10 years
A report by Synergy Property Development Services claims that in the next 10 years the shortage of labour, in the construction sector, might increase by 65 per cent. This report titled ‘Indian Construction Sector - The Great Leap Forward’ indicates that this is a result of workforce movement from construction sector to service industry. Synergy Chairman and Managing Director Sankey Prasad said in a statement, “The acute labour shortage in the construction sector is going to drive the industry to go in for large-scale mechanisation and also project management”.
“The next 10 years will be a period of caution and uncertainty, with innovation and technology adoption being the guiding force. Further, rising cost of construction materials and inflation will remain a concern,” he added.
The report indicates that in the future the construction sector may need to blend innovative global practices with the traditional ones.
