LinkedIn partners with IIM-Ahmedabad

Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad has joined hands with professional networking site LinkedIn to keep placement channels open with recruiters even after students graduate. The partnership is not only meant to benefit the alumni but anyone associated to the prestigious institute from current students to teachers. With 175 million members worldwide and more than 17 million in India, it can be expected that in the near future LinkedIn could forge unique partnership with other educational institutes and business houses. As a result of this formal agreement between IIM-A and LinkedIn, recruiters can now go through alumni profiles for hiring at middle and senior levels. Besides, the tie-up will also serve as secondary placement platform to alumni. The alumni who have become entrepreneurs can also become a member of the group to hire potential graduates from their own alma mater. Headhunters, too, will get an invite to join the LinkedIn group. As globally recruiters have never been part of any B-school alumni group, IIM-A will verify members before allowing them to be part of the group, thus authenticating the profiles. According to Hari V Krishnan, country manager of India, “Apart from networking infrastructure, this (the tie-up) will provide secondary placement platform to alumni. Not only recruiters, but IIM-A alumni, who have become industry captains in various sectors, look for hiring potential candidates and they will prefer graduates from their own institute.”
