Oracle's Larry is world's best-paid CEO

According to a Wall Street Journal analysis, Larry Ellison, Founder & Chief Executive of Oracle Corp. topped the list of 25 best paid CEOs of public companies during the decade gone by with $1.84 billion earned as compensation. Barry Diller, Chairman and Chief Executive of IAC/InterActive is the first runner up in the list with close to $1.14 billion compensation, followed by Ray Irani, Chief Executive Officer of Occidental Petroleum Corp. with $857 million. Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc. and Richard Fairbank, CEO of Capital One Financial Corp. stand at the fourth and fifth position in the list with $749 milliom and $569 million received in compensation. The analysis of the compensation received by CEOs was done taking into account their salary, bonuses, perks, and gains out of stock options. It is interesting to note that four of the 10 best paid CEOs ran companies whose shareholders lost money over the past decade.
