Talent retention back in focus after recession

After getting the heat of global recession, the Indian job market has again turned optimistic, giving employees an ample scope for a change.

After getting the heat of global recession, the Indian job market has again turned optimistic, giving employees an ample scope for a change.

Thus the companies are looking at fine-tuning their HR policies and trying to cater to the soft skills and personal talent of employees in order to retain them.

Apart from providing training and developing programmes to enhance employees' skill-sets, companies are also looking at offering them adequate scope to exhibit their personal talents and pursue their hobbies, according to industry experts.
Milind Sarwate, Chief, HR and Strategy, Marico Ltd said, “In a world that is increasingly becoming flat, soft skills are a key differentiating factor in business success”.

However, soft skills cannot be developed just by attending training programmes. It is also important to practice the theory at work. Any employer who actively promotes such a practice will surely have a lower attrition rate,” he said.
Talent identification or management should become an integral part of any company's business plan. HR should facilitate the process by continuously updating the skills inventory through constant interaction with its employees, senior officials pointed out.
