According to the Indian Staffing federation,ISF, the Contract Labor (Regulation & Abolition) Act, 1970 should be altered keeping in mind that the staffing industry has changed in the last 40 years. ISF has over 3.5 lakh temporary staff on their payrolls and said that the professional firms who manage contract staffing follow statuary guidelines and can assist clients to help them manage their contract staff better as well. A press statement issued by ISF states, "One can say with reasonable amount of confidence that the interests of contract workers managed by professional staffing companies in the organized sector, are secured and in line with stipulated statutory regulations." ISF said that professional firms ensure temporary employees are covered under minimum wages, paid their provident fund and insurance. "We believe that irrespective of their nature of employment, such an incident has a long term and unprecedented impact on job creation and employment," said the statement.
