Avik Kumar Roy has succeeded Subir Chakraborty as MD and CEO who retired on April 30.
Exide Industries appoints Avik Kumar Roy as MD and CEO

Exide Industries has appointed Avik Kumar Roy as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective May 1. He has succeeded Subir Chakraborty who retired on April 30.

Before being elevated as MD and CEO, Roy was an executive director on the Board responsible for overall industrial and submarine businesses. Roy joined Exide Industries in January 2019 as President Industrial from Chloride Batteries. Crompton Grieves and Siemens are other organisations where Roy worked previously.

“Based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC) and subject to the approval of the Shareholders of the Company, the Board of Directors have appointed Avik Kumar Roy as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for three years, from 1st May 2024 till 30th April 2027,” the company stated in an official filing.

An electrical engineering graduate from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and an EMBA from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila, Roy brings over three decades of experience as an industrial business leader in various organisations.
