In a major commitment to accelerate Indonesia's digital transformation, Microsoft today announced a US$1.7 billion investment over the next four years.  A significant portion of the investment will focus on upskilling 840,000 Indonesians, preparing them for opportunities in the cloud and AI sectors.

This aligns with Indonesia's "Golden Indonesia 2045" initiative,  envisioning the country as a leading digital economy in Southeast Asia.

Microsoft will launch tailored programmes including AI TEACH for Indonesian students, providing technical and vocational training. The new Ready4AI&Security programme targets women, offering skill-building and career support in cybersecurity.

The company aims to enhance employability for underserved and underrepresented communities by focusing on AI skills development. Indonesian developers will receive dedicated resources and initiatives to help them create innovative new solutions built on cloud and AI technologies.

In January 2024, Microsoft voluntarily committed to the implementation of AI ethical values highlighted in the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology’s Circular.
