ITC announced Sanjiv Puri as its Chief Operating Officer

Today FMCG giant, ITC announced Sanjiv Puri as its Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. Prior to this, Sanjiv Puri was the Wholetime Director at ITC, where he replaced P Dhobale. 

Puri was also responsible for ITC’s Packaging & Printing Business (PPB) and Paperboards and Specialty Papers Division (PSPD) business from January 2016. 

Before being appointed as the director, Puri was President, FMCG Businesses, which takes care of segments such as cigarettes, foods, personal care, education and stationary products, matches and agarbattis. 

Puri is seen as the successor of Y.C Deveshwar, who is rumored to step down early next after being the Chairman of ITC for more than 2 decades. Deveshwar will continue as non- executive chairman for at least three years after that and has set a target of Rs. 1 trillion revenue from consumer goods (excluding cigarettes) by 2030 for his successors. 

Puri has graduated from IIT, Kanpur and has been part of the ITC family since 1986 where he has had several roles.
