What employees seek when they look for jobs at inclusive organisations?

Aubrey is the Senior Director of Equitable Design, Product & People at Culture Amp. In this episode, she shared that foundational changes are most sought after factors by the LGBT+ employees today. According to her, "We've seen historically is that company leaders like to get up and say that they care about inclusion, but they're not actually willing to engage in the everyday actions that create inclusion."

She shared that having a policy alone is not going to make changes within an organisation. The policies need to be implemented and the HRs and leaders have significant roles to play in the process. Behaviour may not be influenced by the policies but with proper education and enactment of the policies in cases of incidents reported, chances of the positive change may arise.

Aubrey is of the view that if implemented properly, the DEI policies are some of such investements which can be cost effective for the companies.  "So when we're talking about engagement, high performance, retention and hiring, these are the types of things that affected equity and inclusion programs create," she added.

The HRs' role is to set a standard of behaviour within a workplace and monitor whether it is being maintained. "So I don't necessarily think that it is the HRs' responsibility to help someone overcome homophobia. I think that's a basic moral duty of each individual."
